Obituary of Robert Francis Dickerson

Smethport - Robert Francis Dickerson, 79, of Smethport, died Saturday (June 28, 2014) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was born Feb. 4, 1935 in Warren, a son of Raymond and Lorena Schumann Dickerson. On November 16, 1957, in Warren, PA, he married Betty Holowell, who survives. Mr. Dickerson was a graduate of Warren High School and had served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957. Mr. Dickerson had worked for Walker’s Dairy in Warren, PA before coming to Smethport. He was a self employed businessman, owning and operating JB Distributor of Smethport. He was a member of the Port Allegany Moose Lodge #460. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one daughter: Julie (Allen) Talley of Hummelstown, PA three sons: Robert A. (Marilyn) Dickerson of Reedsville, PA, Scott D. Dickerson of Smethport, and Paul H. Dickerson of Oil City two sisters: Joan Nosel of Warren, Anita (C. Russel) Johnson of Smethport two brothers: Paul (Betty) Dickerson of Warren and Milton (Kay) Dickerson of Jay, NY Grandchildren: Tatum and Dillon Talley, Step Great Grandchild: Isaiah Eaton, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Raymond, Lloyd and Herbert Dickerson; and two sisters: Lorena Dickerson and Sally Lampley. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, from 10 A.M. to 12 noon at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held at noon, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.
