Obituary of Donald R. Johnson

Smethport - Donald R. Johnson, 88, of Smethport, died Sunday (July 20, 2014) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was born May 21, 1926 in Jamestown, NY, a son of Carl and Bertha Erickson Johnson. On Nov. 22, 1947, in Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Port Allegany, he married Audene M. Lyman, who died June 29, 2013. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Mt. Jewett High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. Mr. Johnson worked as a foreman for Quaker State Oil Refinery of Farmers Valley for many years. He was a member of McKean Lodge #388 F&AM of Smethport, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Smethport, and was a member of the Coudersport Consistry. He was the beloved Uncle of Barbara Olson, Denise Stachoski, Charles Morrison, Roger, Gary, Jeff, Joel, and Larry Johnson. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Honoring Mr. Johnson’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 am from the Trinity Lutheran Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Joann Piatko, pastor, officiating.
