Obituary of Richard L. Wilson

Smethport - Richard L. Wilson, 78, of Smethport, died Friday (August 22, 2014) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Ctr., Smethport. He was born April 13, 1936 in Cyclone, a son of Albert J. and G. Maxine Knight Wilson. In September, 1966, in Olean, NY, he married Dorothy Welch, who survives. Mr. Wilson was a Airman 2nd Class in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1954 to 1957. He was a Laborer for many years employed by Petro-Wax, then International Waxes, of Farmers Valley, PA. He retired in 1998. He was a member of the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Dept., the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport, and the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two daughters: Sharon Packer of Shinglehouse and Carol (Bill) Taylor of Smethport two sons: Russell L. (Valerie) Wilson of West Virginia and Albert C. "Al" (Sherry) Wilson of Tampa, FL 13 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren one sister: Ann Umpleby of Kane, PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Jones of Sebring, FL and two brothers: Donald and Jon Wilson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral services will be conducted by the family on Wednesday at 11 A.M., in the funeral home.
