Obituary of Judith Diane Duffy

Smethport - Judith Diane Duffy, 70, of Smethport, died Thursday (February 26, 2015) in The Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford. She was born Nov. 26, 1944 in Niagara Falls, NY, the youngest daughter of six children of William A. and Hazel E. House Pringle. On Dec. 17, 1963, in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, she married William Owen Duffy, who survives. Mrs. Duffy was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and had worked in health care with several facilities over the years. Judy loved cooking, canning and preserving. She did much of this from her gardens that she grew. She liked sewing for her family and household. She was also an avid sports fan, especially of football and basketball. Judy found relaxation in reading. She enjoyed non-fiction, since she tended to be a no-nonsense individual with a good sense of humor. She was a one-of-a-kind woman who mastered anything she put her mind to. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 10 children: 5 sons: Matthew of Girard, PA; Daniel of Castle Rock, CO; Mark of Central, SC; William of Bradford, PA; Charles of San Antonio TX. 5 daughters: Kathleen Luce of Olean, NY; Patricia Kabir of SC.; Bridget Grohe of Smethport; Nora Buterbaugh; Frances Duffy of Syracuse, NY. 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren 3 brothers: Charles L. Pringle of Waller, TX; Richard A. Pringle of Norman, OK, & Russel G. Pringle of Houston, TX 1 sister: Donna J. Gioia of Lockport, NY, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son: Owen William Duffy, and one brother: John D. Pringle Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, from 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 11 A.M. in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent Cieslewicz, pastor, as Celebrant.
