Obituary of Beverly M. Bigler

Smethport - Beverly M. Bigler, 76, of Smethport, died Saturday (May 30, 2015) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born Nov. 1, 1938 in Kane, a daughter of John J. and Mary L. Rossi McGavisk, Sr. On Aug. 19, 1972, in the United Methodist Church of Smethport, she married William L. Bigler, who died July 11, 1999. Mrs. Bigler was a 1956 graduate of Smethport Area Junior/Senior High School and was secretary to the Superintendent of Smethport Area School District. She retired in 1987 after 30 years of employment. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 Auxiliary of Smethport, and the Catholic Daughters of America. Beverly faced each day with a smile on her face. She loved life, family and friends. She is survived by: four daughters: Maryellen (William) Middaugh of Limestone, NY, Jan M. (Ken) Bigler of Sodus Point, NY, Jean M. Calaci of Macedon, NY, and Julie M. Marletta of Webster, NY one son: John M. (Deborah) Bigler of Bradford, PA nine grandchildren: Abigail, Tyler, Chad, Leigh, Danielle, Karin, Kristopher, Apryl, and Melissa one sister: Barbara L. Platko of Smethport, PA and several cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant twin brother, brother John J. McGavisk, Jr., and one grandson, Michael. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 2, at 10 A.M. in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. A Christian Wake service will be held on Monday at 3:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to National MS Society, P.O.
