Port Allegany - George William "Bill" Ayers, 85, of, Coudersport formerly of Austin, PA, died Saturday (August 15, 2015) in the Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport. He was born Jul 24, 1930 in Coudersport, a son of William L. and Ethyl Jane Lockwood Ayers. On August 22, 1974 in Austin, PA, he married Betty D. Lindsley, who died January 8, 2003. Mr. Ayers was a 1948 graduate of Coudersport High School. Mr. Ayers work in the machine shop at Reliable Tool and Die in Cleveland, OH. He owned Ayers Repair Service, a small engine shop in Coudersport and also worked for NAPA in Emporium. He is survived by Three Step Daughter, Karen (Bob) Cooney of Smethport, PA; Barbara (George Herzing) Purdy of Austin, PA; and Robin McGuire of Pittsburgh, PA. Nine step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren one cousin Bob Brooks of Emporium, PA He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, many aunts, uncles, and cousins Abiding by his wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Eulalia Cemetery, Coudersport. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
